Places to visit locally
The attractive market town of Châteauneuf-du-Faou overlooking the Nantes - Brest canal is 10 minutes by car. The canal offers varied activities, including canoe/kayak and motor craft hire, as well as boat trips. Bicycle hire is also available for rides along the towpath.
Domaine de Trévarez (5 minutes)
A beautiful 160 acre park with its neo-gothic Château and imposing stables housing seasonal exhibitions. Le Bolé was infact owned by the domain’s proprietors until 1967.
Pleyben (20 minutes)
Particularly renowned for its breathtaking calvary - one of the most famous in France. Just opposite the “Blanche Hermine” ( first class Breton Brasserie) welcomes locals and visitors alike. And why not pop into the handmade chocolate factory for a taste (for free !)
Quimper (25 minutes)
Very attractive cathedral city and home to famous Henriot faïence (porcelain). A shoppers delight.
Concarneau (35 minutes)
Famous for its “Ville Close” or medieval walled town, Concarneau is also a thriving port and a paradise for sea food lovers. There are crêperies and restaurants galore to suit all culinary tastes. The Friday morning market is well worth a visit.
Pont Aven (40 mintues)
Artist's haven, made famous by Paul Gauguin. An extremely pretty little town nestling on the river Odet's river bank.
Beaches
We are spoilt for choice, with beaches to the west (Crozon peninsula) :
- Pentrez Plage - 4 km of pure white sand
- Morgat - pretty beach and port
and to the south :
- Beg Meil - sandy beach with rock pools
- Cap Coz - sandy peninsula offering lovely views over the bay
- Bénodet - sandy beaches, some with children's play areas
- Port Manec'h - delightful little beach nestling in a sheltered cove
